Most US cities have a swingers club. Tampa Bay has a region - and the center of gravity sits about twenty miles north of downtown, in Pasco County. Land O' Lakes is home to a string of clothing-optional resorts so dense that local press and lifestyle directories routinely call it the nudist capital of the United States, with more clothing-optional clubs than anywhere else in North America. The city's nightlife scene is real, but the resort belt is the thing that makes Tampa Bay a destination rather than a stop.
The flagship club
Inside the city, the conversation starts and ends with Eyz Wide Shut, a 12,000-plus-square-foot lifestyle nightclub off Adamo Drive on the US-60 corridor east of downtown. It splits across two buildings, runs a full liquor bar (rare for a US club, where BYOB is the norm), and packs in pool tables, a social-club floor and ten themed private suites plus a dungeon. It opens Thursday through Sunday. Access runs on a membership-plus-nightly-entry model: a card is required for the playrooms and dungeon, but not for bar-only entry. One widely-cited write-up describes "metal detectors at both doors, a phone jail behind the counter, and a fishbowl-style couples room," and notes the crowd skews younger with an inconsistent dress code - dressed-up couples on one side, oversized tees and Crocs on the other. Translation: come on the right night, and lower your expectations on the wrong one.

The resorts and the city club are different animals. Caliente and Paradise Lakes are full-service, gated, daytime-into-night communities that are explicitly lifestyle-friendly but keep overt play behind closed doors; the city club is where the on-premise nightlife happens. Come on the right night and it delivers. Come on the wrong one and you're past a metal detector for a fishbowl. The regulars treat both as true.
Myth: Tampa's scene is one sex club off the highway. Reality: The club is the visible tip. The depth is the Pasco County resort belt - a dozen-plus clothing-optional resorts, decades old, that earn Land O' Lakes its "nudist capital" reputation and pull lifestyle travelers from around the world.
A practical note that applies everywhere here: this is car country. Nothing is walkable, the city club has a real liquor bar (so designate a driver), and rideshare covers Tampa Bay well. The season tracks the weather - the cooler, drier November-to-April window is peak, and Atlantic hurricane season can occasionally scramble programming.
