Stuttgart, in brief

“The Stuttgarter Nachrichten put it plainest through SunMoon's owner Markus: he runs the place 'like a circus director who provides the arena' — the night is yours to make, or not.”
Stuttgart is a city where the lifestyle scene is real, established, and almost entirely out of town. Germany settled the legal question decades ago — the Federal Administrative Court ruled in 2002 (Az. 6 C 16.02) that a screened-off swinger club doesn't violate 'good morals' and can be licensed as a special hospitality business (BVerwG) — so the venues here aren't furtive so much as deliberately low-key. By law their rooms can't be visible from the street, and in practice they cluster in the woods above the city and in industrial estates out in Landkreis Ludwigsburg. You drive, you don't stroll.
The lay of the land
There's no district. There's one in-city veteran and two regional anchors a short drive north-west, each running a distinct register. JOYclub is the de-facto layer where all of them post party dates and crowd notes.
| Club | What it is | Who goes | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swingerclub Wildpark (Stuttgart-Süd) | Old-school couples-and-singles club in the Südheim woods, run by Dirk Siefert; the one established venue inside the city | Couples and singles; open Tue–Sat | Publishes no prices or rules online — phone ahead (0711 633 8707) to confirm the night and the door (PridePlanet) |
| Golden Lions (Markgröningen, about 18 km NW) | Polished 1,000 m² 'Erolifestyle' club opened Oct 2023 in the renovated former La Huitre premises | Couples and single women; solo men only via JOYclub | All-inclusive door (buffet + all drinks); three price tiers (Standard / JOYclub Member / Premium); strict phone-camera ban; two couples-only nights a month (Golden Lions) |
| Swingerclub SunMoon (Sachsenheim, about 22 km NW) | Owner-run Friday/Saturday party club with a darkroom, sauna and SM room; taken over in 2017 by Markus & Janine to keep it open | Couples, plus solo men/women; crowd skews mid-to-late 40s | House rules 'Ein Nein ist ein Nein' and 'Alles kann, nichts muss'; prefers single men who pre-register with a photo; first-visit and younger-couple discounts (Stuttgarter Nachrichten) |
The Stuttgarter Nachrichten's feature on SunMoon captures the regional register: a venue that blends pub coziness with low-lit nightclub energy in a nondescript industrial estate, where regulars vacation together without sex involved and 'nobody here wants marriage — it's clear what it's about.'
The practical pattern for single men is consistent and worth stating plainly: Golden Lions admits them only via confirmed JOYclub registration, charges a steep premium (roughly EUR 55–130 by night), and bars them entirely from its monthly couples-only nights; SunMoon prefers them pre-registered with a photo. Couples and single women have the easiest entry everywhere.
Two Stuttgart traps
Two things mislead newcomers searching this scene. First, the dead-website problem — several Stuttgart-area club domains (the former Edelclub-Surprise and Club Wildpark sites among them) now redirect to parked 'for sale' pages, so confirm a club is open by phone or on JOYclub before you drive out.
Myth: Those 'FKK' and 'sauna club' venues in the Stuttgart search results are just more swinger clubs. Reality: They're commercial-sex establishments under Germany's prostitution law (the Prostituiertenschutzgesetz) — a different legal category and a transactional setting entirely. Lifestyle clubs like Wildpark, Golden Lions and SunMoon are couples-and-singles venues with no paid services.
If you want a lower-pressure, non-sexual way into the wider community first, Stuttgart has an active poly and kink layer: Polytreff Stuttgart runs a monthly discussion circle and casual Stammtisch at Muse-O, and the OffenerSM Stammtisch has met since 1992. Neither is a play night — they're the front door to the scene, not the scene itself.

Etiquette & law
- Legal age is 18+; bring government photo ID.
- Legal status: Legal. Clubs operate as private, members-only venues.
- Consent is explicit and ongoing. Always ask; no means no.
- Photography is prohibited inside almost every venue.
- Swinger clubs are legal in Germany and operate as a licensed hospitality business; the same federal law applies in Stuttgart as in Berlin or Frankfurt. The German Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht) settled the question on 6 November 2002 (Az. 6 C 16.02): it held that running a swinger club in a screened-off area, absent conduct that is itself a criminal offence, does not automatically violate 'gute Sitten' (good morals), reversing older case law, so such a club can be licensed under the Gaststättengesetz as a special hospitality business type. The court reasoned that 'immorality' under the licensing law must respect adults' rights to sexual self-determination, and that the law's purpose is to protect the public - especially children - from unwanted exposure, not to enforce morality for its own sake; it noted that well over 250 swinger clubs were already operating in Germany with little administrative intervention. The standard licence conditions are youth-protection ones: the club's rooms must not be visible from outside and under-18s must be refused entry, which is why Stuttgart-area clubs are strictly 18+ and discreetly fronted. Alcohol is served under the same hospitality licence. Note the separate distinction common to German cities: FKK/sauna 'clubs' are commercial-sex venues governed by the Prostituiertenschutzgesetz, a different legal category from lifestyle swinger clubs.
