Bilbao, in brief

“Two clubs, one city: a couples-only pub-and-jacuzzi night in the centre, and a play-led room out on the N-634 that actually publishes its single-men rules.”
Bilbao is not a scene you get lost in. The whole map is two venues, and they barely overlap - one couples-only night in the city centre, one play-led club out in the metro belt. That clarity is the city's defining feature: you pick by what you are (couple, single woman, single man) and where you can get home from, and the rest follows.
The two clubs
Bilbao Swinger Party / Element is the only swinger club inside Bilbao proper, on Costa Kalea in Abando - walkable from the Abando and Moyua metro stops and the main hotel cluster. It runs one party every Saturday around a 650 m2 pub with a dance floor and a jacuzzi sized for roughly 16 people, at a flat 50 EUR per couple including four drinks. It is strictly couples-oriented: no solo singles, with pre-formed trios admitted only on occasion. Listings describe it as open and uninhibited rather than hard play-focused (salir.com).
New Fantasias, about 10 km east in Galdakao on the N-634, is widely described as one of Bizkaia's reference clubs (caprichobilbao.es). It is the play-led option - dark room, French hallway, restraint equipment - open Fridays and Saturdays, with two host couples and a full standard-and-VIP price grid. Regulars on local listing sites praise the cleanliness and the warm, team-run welcome, while noting the play areas can feel a little tight (salir.com).
| Venue | What it is | Who goes | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bilbao Swinger Party / Element (Abando, central) | Couples pub-and-jacuzzi night | Couples only; trios on occasion | One party every Saturday; about 50 EUR/couple incl. 4 drinks; in-city, no car needed |
| New Fantasias (Galdakao, N-634) | Larger play-led club (dark room, French hallway, restraint gear) | Couples, single women, single men by quota | Fri + Sat; couples about 45-65 EUR, single women about 25-35 EUR, single men about 40-65 EUR; out of town, plan transport |
Beyond the two clubs the local ambiente thins out fast - into bars and social spots like Pub Lust and the dance-class venue El Galeon, plus a sex shop that hosts tapersex meets, rather than further play venues. The nearest private-chalet option, La Manzana, is across the regional border in Cantabria.
Single men: read the door
This is where the two clubs differ most. Bilbao Swinger Party admits no solo single men at all - a man attends only as the arranged third in a trio. New Fantasias is unusually methodical about it: single men are admitted Friday night and Saturday afternoon by a limited, WhatsApp-reserved quota, confined to the mixed zone unless invited, and allowed into the Saturday-night session only as a couple's guest (New Fantasias - info chicos solos). Single women, by contrast, are welcome at every New Fantasias session.
The legal protection rests on a single fact: no paid sex. Clients pay an entry fee and meet only other clients. Treat any solicitation for paid sex as a red flag and a reason to leave.
Myth: Spain's clubs are a free-for-all where a single guy can just turn up. Reality: In Bilbao one club bars solo men outright and the other pre-books them by WhatsApp quota and limits them to a mixed zone - the structure is the whole point, and it is what keeps the crowd predictable.
Practicalities
The centre venue is easy; the Galdakao one needs planning. New Fantasias sits out on the N-634, and the late Friday and Saturday sessions run past 04:00-05:00, when taxis and rideshare (FreeNow, Cabify, Uber all work the metro area) thin out beyond the centre. Bring government photo ID - minimum age is 18. Spanish is the working language, some English is understood, and Basque (euskara) is widely used. As across Spain, in-venue photography is not welcome, and several listings are mirrored on directory sites, so confirm a venue is open on its own site before you travel.

- Legal age is 18+; bring government photo ID.
- Legal status: Legal. Clubs operate as private, members-only venues.
- Consent is explicit and ongoing. Always ask; no means no.
- Photography is prohibited inside almost every venue.
- Swinger / club liberal activity between consenting adults is legal across Spain, including the Basque Country (Pais Vasco / Euskadi). Spanish law does not criminalise prostitution or sex between consenting adults itself; what the Codigo Penal punishes is third-party exploitation - Article 187 penalises profiting from or exploiting another person's prostitution (even with their consent, where there is dependence or abuse of vulnerability), Article 188 covers involving minors, and Article 189 covers child sexual material. Swinger clubs are lawful because clients pay only an entry or membership fee and have sex solely with other clients, not with sex workers, so no proxenetismo (procuring) arises. The minimum age is 18 and venues are licensed to serve alcohol. There is no national swinger-club statute - clubs operate under ordinary hospitality and municipal licensing, and exact single-male, zone and reservation rules are set by each house (for example New Fantasias caps and pre-books single men by WhatsApp, while Bilbao Swinger Party admits no solo singles at all).
